Product Information

KE00306 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human CEACAM8/CD66b ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human CEACAM8/CD66b. The assay recognizes human CEACAM8/CD66b. An antibody specific for human CEACAM8/CD66b has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human CEACAM8/CD66b protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human CEACAM8/CD66b is added to detect the captured human CEACAM8/CD66b protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

A glycosylphosphatidyl-inositol-(GPI)-anchored glycoprotein, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA)-related cell adhesion molecule 8 (CEACAM8), also known as CD66b, NCA-95 and CD67, was identified in human neutrophils. It is solely expressed by granulocytes, of which 95% are polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN). CEACAM8 is cell-adhesion proteins on neutrophils that belong to the human carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) family. CEA family members are believed to function as intercellular adhesion molecules in vitro. CEACAM8 has been shown to adhere to the closely related molecule CEACAM6 (NCA-50/90 and CD66c), suggesting a role in the interaction between granulocytes or between granulocytes and epithelial cells expressing CEACAM6 in vivo.
