Product Information

KE00302 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Haptoglobin ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Haptoglobin. The assay recognizes human Haptoglobin. An antibody specific for human Haptoglobin has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Haptoglobin protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Haptoglobin is added to detect the captured human Haptoglobin protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Haptoglobin(HP), also named as zonulin, is a plasma glycoprotein and belongs to the peptidase S1 family. As a kind of acute-phase response protein, serum Hp is mainly synthesized by hepatocytes and is widely distributed in the circulation in humans. The main physiological function of serum Hp is binding free haemoglobin released from red blood cell lysis and protecting tissues and vessels from oxidative damage. The level of Hp is a useful biomarker for some diseases diagnosis, such as Hepatocellular carcinoma, Pancreatic cancer, Type 2 diabetes mellitus, Diabetes kidney disease and so on.
