Product Information
KE01003 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human/mouse PKP1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human/mouse PKP1. The assay recognizes human/mouse PKP1. An antibody specific for human/mouse PKP1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human/mouse PKP1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human/mouse PKP1 is added to detect the captured human/mouse PKP1 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Plakophilin 1, also known as PKP1, B6P, is a member of the arm-repeat protein family. PKP1 contains arm-repeat (armadillo) domains, localizes to nuclei and cell desmosomes, and participates in linking cadherins to intermediate filaments in the cytoskeleton. PKP1 contributes to epidermal morphogenesis and facilitates the formation of intermediate filaments. Mutations in PKP1 have been associated with the ectodermal dysplasia/skin fragility syndrome.
