Product Information

KE00316 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human S100A14 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human S100A14. The assay recognizes human S100A14. An antibody specific for human S100A14 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human S100A14 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human S100A14 is added to detect the captured human S100A14 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

S100A14 is one of the new members of the multi-functional S100 protein family and has recently gained significant attention in cancer research. S100A14 has been reported to be differentially expressed in various cancer types and has been suggested to be involved in key biological processes critical for cancerous phenotypes. S100A14 has been reported to be overexpressed in breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and lung adenocarcinoma. Furthermore, S100A14 has been revealed to promote cell invasion and metastasis in breast cancer, lung adenocarcinoma, and hepatocellular carcinoma. The elevation of S100A14 levels in distant breast cancer patients suggests the ability to use serum S100A14 as a biomarker for the detection of breast cancer metastasis.
