Background Information

KLF7, also named as UKLF, is a 302 amino acid protein, which contains three C2H2-type zinc fingers and belongs to the krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. KLF7 is ubiquitous and highly expressed in brain and spinal cord in the adult, and in kidney and brain in the embryo. KLF7 as a transcriptional activator localizes in the nucleus and binds in vitro to the CACCC motif of the beta-globin promoter and to the SP1 recognition sequence.
