Background Information
MED9, also named as MED25, is a 146 amino acid protein, which belongs to the Mediator complex subunit 9 family. MED9 is a component of the Mediator complex and a coactivator that is involved in the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. MED9 as a mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery.
