Background Information
Misshapen/Nck-interacting kinase (NIK)-related kinase 1 (MINK1), also known as mitogen-activated protein 4 kinase 6, a serine-threonine protein kinase belonging to the sterile 20 kinase superfamily, has been implicated in diverse physiological and pathophysiological processes, including platelet activation and thrombus formation (PMID: 38723371). MINK1 has the potential to modulate the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome, indicating its pivotal role in governing pyroptosis. Overall, MINK1 is known to regulate cell senescence, cell motility and migration (PMID: 36182968). MINK1 expression has been demonstrated in multiple tissues and organs, including nervous tissue, kidneys, cancer tissues, and immune system cells. (PMID: 39727954)
