KE10218 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The mouse CD5L ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous mouse CD5L. The assay recognizes mouse CD5L. An antibody specific for mouse CD5L has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The mouse CD5L protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for mouse CD5L is added to detect the captured mouse CD5L protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
CD5 molecule-like (CD5L), also known as apoptosis inhibitor expressed by macrophages (AIM), SP-alpha, apoptosis inhibitor 6 (API6), is a member of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) family of proteins. CD5L is a soluble protein mainly secreted by macrophages in lymphoid and inflamed tissues. It contains three SRCR domains, each approximately 100 amino acids in length with sialic acid content at a potential region of O-linked glycosylation between SRCR domains 1 and 2. Additionally, CD5L is involved in different processes such as metabolism, infection, and autophagy.
