Product Information
KE10160 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The mouse CD6 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous mouse CD6. The assay recognizes mouse CD6. An antibody specific for mouse CD6 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The mouse CD6 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for mouse CD6 is added to detect the captured mouse CD6 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
The transmembrane surface glycoprotein CD6 is a receptor expressed on thymocytes, mature T cells, the B1a B cell subset, and certain regions of the brain. It is a marker of T cells and an important T-cell regulator. CD6 acts as a costimulatory molecule synergizing with TCR or CD28 to enhance T cell proliferation. CD6 variants have been identified as susceptibility or disease modifier markers for multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, Behçe's disease, psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Besides, Mouse soluble CD6 may have antibacterial effects, which can be used as adjunctive therapy in experimental models of complex and severe polymicrobial sepsis.
