Background Information
Endoglin (CD105) is a homodimeric cell membrane glycoprotein that acts as an accessory receptor for transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and is involved in vascular development and remodeling. It is highly expressed on vascular endothelial cells and plays a crucial role in angiogenesis, making it an ideal target for antiangiogenic therapy and a good marker for tumor prognosis. Endoglin is also involved in the regulation of vascular endothelial cell migration and has important implications for embryonic heart development. Additionally, it can regulate the response of endothelial cells to blood flow, influencing vascular remodeling and the establishment of normal vascular morphology during angiogenesis.
