Product Information

KE10148 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The mouse Fas/CD95 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous mouse Fas/CD95. The assay recognizes mouse Fas/CD95. An antibody specific for mouse Fas/CD95 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The mouse Fas/CD95 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for mouse Fas/CD95 is added to detect the captured mouse Fas/CD95 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Fas ligand (Fas-L) and its receptor Fas (also known as CD95) are members of the tumor necrosis factor family, which interact to play a key role in initiating an apoptotic pathway and accounting for the molecular mechanism of activation-induced T-cell death. They may be linked to breast cancer progression. Fas can be a therapeutic target in rheumatoid arthritis as well. Serum-soluble Fas and soluble Fas-L levels were significantly higher in some rheumatic disease patients. It also has been reported that increased soluble CD95 (sFas/CD95) serum level correlates with poor prognosis in melanoma patients.
