Product Information
KE10185 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The mouse Galectin-3 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous mouse Galectin-3. The assay recognizes mouse Galectin-3. An antibody specific for mouse Galectin-3 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The mouse Galectin-3 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for mouse Galectin-3 is added to detect the captured mouse Galectin-3 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Galectin-3 is a member of the galectin family of lectins that bind β-galactosides. It is crucial in various biological processes, including inflammation, fibrosis, cell adhesion, and immune response regulation. Galectin-3 is involved in regulating leukocyte activity, influencing both the activation of leukocytes and the induction of apoptosis in T lymphocytes. Additionally, soluble Galectin-3 (sGalectin-3) acts as an alarmin, orchestrating immune responses and promoting inflammation in conditions such as traumatic brain injury. Elevated levels of sGalectin-3 have been observed in patients with heart failure and other cardiovascular conditions, suggesting its potential as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker.
