Product Information

KE10198 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The mouse VE-cadherin/CD144 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous mouse VE-cadherin/CD144. The assay recognizes mouse VE-cadherin/CD144. An antibody specific for mouse VE-cadherin/CD144 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The mouse VE-cadherin/CD144 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for mouse VE-cadherin/CD144 is added to detect the captured mouse VE-cadherin/CD144 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Cadherins are a family of transmembrane glycoproteins that mediate calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion and play an important role in the maintenance of normal tissue architecture. Vascular endothelial cadherin (VE-cadherin, also known as CD144) is a member of the type II classical cadherin family of cell adhesion proteins. It is specifically expressed in endothelial cells and mediates homophilic adhesion in the vascular endothelium. VE-cadherin plays a crucial role in the organization of lateral endothelial junctions and the control of permeability properties of vascular endothelium. Additionally, VE-cadherin has been shown to be required for angiogenesis.
