Product Information

KE10079 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The mouse/rat HGF ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous mouse/rat HGF. The assay recognizes mouse/rat HGF. An antibody specific for mouse/rat HGF has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The mouse/rat HGF protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for mouse/rat HGF is added to detect the captured mouse/rat HGF protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

HGF (hepatocyte growth factor) is a potent mitogen for hepatocytes, also known as hepatopoietin A (HBGA). HGF and its receptor MET are involved in cell proliferation, movement, differentiation, invasion, angiogenesis, and apoptosis by activating multiple downstream signaling pathways. HGF/cMet also can serve as biomarkers for gastrointestinal cancers. HGF regulates inflammation including collagen-induced arthritis, autoimmune neuroinflammation, inflammatory bowel disease and airway inflammation. Elevated levels of HGF of tumors and plasma were observed such as in invasive breast carcinoma, glioma, multiple myeloma and sarcomas.
