Background Information
N-acetyltransferase 5 (NAT5/hNaa50p), also known as NAA20 (N-alpha-acetyltransferase 20), is a catalytic subunit of the N-terminal acetyltransferase B complex, which is a member of the GCN5-related N-acetyltransferase (GNAT) superfamily. It specifically acetylates the N-terminus of proteins (N-terminal acetylation) and is crucial for cell survival, chromosome segregation, and cell cycle progression. Naa20 expression is much higher in HCC tumors than in normal tissues, promoting oncogenic properties in HCC cells. Knockdown of NAA20 significantly inhibited TNBC cell viability by CCK8 and colony formation assays and cell migration and invasion (PMID: 37827343, 33219302).
