Background Information
Nucleolar protein 12 (NOL12), a multifunctional RNA-binding protein, has been found to be related to genomic stability, DNA damage repair, and apoptosis. High expression of NOL12 is associated with worse reduced overall survival (OS), high pathological grade, node metastasis, and advanced clinical stage in patients with HCC (PMID: 35693698). Knockdown of NOL12 impairs cellular proliferation by inducing a G1/S cell cycle arrest, but does so outside of a nucleolar stress response and in a p53-independent manner (PMID: 29069457).
