Background Information

POGZ, also known as MRD37, is a zinc-finger protein containing 9 C2H2 zinc fingers, a CENP-B (centromere protein-B) domain, and a DDE domain found in the bacterial transposase/retroviral integrase family. POGZ plays a role in mitotic cell cycle progression and is involved in kinetochore assembly and mitotic sister chromatid cohesion. POGZ plays a role in mitotic chromosome segregation by regulating aurora kinase B/AURKB activation and AURKB and CBX5 dissociation from chromosome arms (PMID:20562864). Heterozygous mutation of POGZ causes White-Sutton syndrome (PMID: 26739615). Expect a band approximately 155 kDa in size corresponding to POGZ by western blotting.
