Background Information
POMGnT1 (Protein O-linked mannose β-1,2-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase 1) catalyzes the formation of the N-acetylglucosamine β-1,2-Man linkage of O-mannosylglycan, which can increase the protein posttranslational mannosylation level. Defects in POMGNT1 affect neuronal migration and distribution, disrupt basement membranes, and misalign Cajal-Retzius cells (PMID: 36686576). POMGNT1 is mainly enriched in glutamatergic neurons. POMGnT1 is a 660-amino-acid Golgi glycosyltransferase and mainly enriched in glutamatergic neurons. (PMID: 11709191).
