Background Information
PPP3R2 (protein phosphatase 3 regulatory subunit B, beta) encodes the regulatory subunit B type 2 of calcineurin, a calcium/calmodulin-dependent serine/threonine protein phosphatase. As a member of the calcineurin B subunit family, PPP3R2 contains EF-hand calcium-binding domains and confers calcium sensitivity to the phosphatase complex. Unlike the ubiquitously expressed PPP3R1, PPP3R2 is expressed almost exclusively in the testis, where it assembles with the catalytic subunit PPP3CC to form a testis-enriched "sperm calcineurin". In mature spermatozoa, this complex is localized to the mitochondrial sheath of the midpiece and the flagellum, and it is essential for proper sperm motility, structural integrity of the midpiece, and male fertility.

Publications
What published studies show
The PPP3R2 Polyclonal antibody (Cat# 14005-1-AP) has 4 citations. These appear in Cell Death & Disease, PNAS, European Journal of Pharmacology, and FASEB Journal. The cited research spans osteoarthritis and cartilage homeostasis, mitochondrial calcineurin regulation of sperm motility, calcineurin/NFAT signaling in cardiac hypertrophy, and calcineurin's role in sperm fertilization. All citations used mouse samples with applications including WB, IF, and IHC.
