Background Information
Human prostaglandin E synthase(PTGES) is a member of a recently recognized protein superfamily consisting of membrane associated proteins involved in eicosanoid and glutathione metabolism (the MAPEG family)(PMID:10377395). It is also named as MGST1L1, MPGES1, PGES, PIG12 and belongs to the MAPEG family. This protein is expressed in membranes as an approximately 16-kD protein(PMID:10091672).
