Background Information
Radil is a broadly expressed adapter protein that contains a RA-like domain, a PDZ domain and a DIL domain. Like RAPL and RIAM, Radil interacts preferentially with active GTP-bound Rap1, and overexpression of Radil enhances integrin-mediated adhesion. In addition, Radil knockdown inhibits cell-substrate adhesion in HT1080, AD293, and NMuMG cells and results in migration defects in SW1353 and zebrafish neural crest cells (PMID: 17704304). Radil regulates neutrophil adhesion by specifically enhancing β2-integrin activation, as well as focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and paxillin phosphorylation (PMID: 23097489).
