Background Information
The RGPD5 protein, full name RANBP2-like and GRIP domain containing 5, belongs to the RANBP2 (Ran-binding protein 2) gene family and is a member of this family generated through gene duplication. This protein is a large macromolecule whose functions are involved in the regulation of intracellular nucleocytoplasmic transport. It contains multiple functional domains, including the RanBD domain capable of binding to the small GTPase RAN, the GRIP domain that mediates protein-protein interactions, and regions associated with SUMO E3 ligase activity.
