Background Information
Suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1) is the prototypical member of the SOCS family and functions in a classic negative-feedback loop to inhibit signaling in response to interferon, interleukin-12 and interleukin-2 family cytokines (PMID: 38947335). SOCS1 not only participates in cell signaling, but also in ubiquitination mediated protein degradation process (PMID: 30761449). SOCS1 is constitutively expressed in the thymus where it plays a vital role in T cell development and homeostasis (PMID: 12705851, PMID:982671).
