Background Information
STARD5 (StAR-related lipid transfer domain containing 5) is a cytosolic lipid-transfer protein with a conserved START domain. It binds cholesterol and 25-hydroxycholesterol, maintaining intracellular sterol homeostasis. Its expression is induced under endoplasmic reticulum stress, triggering protein redistribution from nucleus to cytosol and membranes. STARD5 is highly expressed in liver, kidney and spleen; dysregulation links to hepatic steatosis, liver fibrosis and colorectal cancer progression by altering lipid metabolism. (PMID: 41954600)

What published studies show
The STARD5 Polyclonal antibody (Cat# 10487-1-AP) has 2 citations. One appears in International Journal of Oncology (2024), investigating how AUP1/KDM5B reprograms lipid metabolism in cervical cancer progression. The other is in PLoS One, characterizing dynamic transcriptomic and proteomic profiles of hematopoiesis and hepatogenesis in midtrimester fetal liver. Both studies used the antibody for Western blot in human and mouse samples, respectively.
