Background Information
Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) act as coreceptors for numerous heparin-binding growth factors and cytokines and are involved in cell signaling. SULF2 can remove sulfate from the C-6 position of glucosamine within specific subregions of intact heparin (PMID:12368295, PMID:30788513, PMID:35294879).
