Background Information
TET1 ( also named CXXC6, KIAA1676 or LCX), belongs to the TET family (Tet1-3) which catalyzes the conversion of methylcytosine (5mC) to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (hmC). TET1 binds throughout the genome of embryonic stem cells, with the majority of binding sites located at transcription start sites of CpG-rich promoters and within genes. Knockdown of Tet1 in preimplantation embryos resulted in a bias towards trophectoderm differentiation.Tet1 can associate with either active or repressed transcriptional states and be identified as new epigenetic factor implicated in the establishment and/or maintenance of a pluripotent epigenetic state during early embryonic development.Tet1 is highly expressed in ES cells and is rapidly downregulated upon differentiation. This antibody is specific to TET1.
