Background Information
TSPAN15 is a membrane protein of the tetraspanin superfamily, which are characterized by the presence of four conserved transmembrane regions. Tetraspanins have been involved in diverse processes such as cell activation and proliferation, adhesion and motility, differentiation, and cancer. TSPAN15 belongs to the TSPANC8 subfamily, which also include TSPAN5, TSPAN10, TSPAN14, TSPAN17, and TSPAN33. It has been reported that TSPANC8 tetraspanins interact with ADAM10 and have a conserved function in the regulation of ADAM10 trafficking and activity, thereby positively regulating Notch receptor activation (PMID: 23091066; 23035126).

Both reviewers used this antibody for Western Blot. One reported some unspecific bands in the upper part of the gel, though the expected molecular weight band was relatively clean; they used a 1:500 dilution with 30 µg of protein and suggested 1:1000 might also work. The other noted the antibody recognized a very weak band at 23 kDa, with calculated sizes at 33 and 23 kDa. Overall, the antibody works but shows some background and weak signal, so optimizing dilution and exposure may be needed.
