Background Information
UBTF, also named as NOR-90 or UBF-1, is a 764 amino acid protein, which may form Homodimer. UBTF recognizes the ribosomal RNA gene promoter and activates transcription mediated by RNA polymerase I through cooperative interactions with the transcription factor SL1/TIF-IB complex. It binds specifically to the upstream control element. UBTF exists two isoform with MV 89 kDa and 85 kDa. (PMID: 1940801)
