Background Information
WAC is an adaptor protein involved in gene transcription, protein ubiquitination, and autophagy. WAC links the RNA polymerase II transcriptional machinery with the histone H2B monoubiquitination machinery at lysine 120 (H2BK120ub1). It achieves this by using its WW domain to interact with RNA polymerase II and its coiled-coil domain to interact with the RNF20-RNF40 complex, thus coordinating transcriptional output.
