Background Information
A group of functionally diverse regulatory proteins in eukaryotes, defined by a conserved core of 4 or more modular repeat units, is known as the WD repeat family. Proteins belonging to the WD repeat family are involved in a number of cellular processes, including cell cycle progression, apoptosis, signal transduction, and gene regulation. WD repeat-containing protein 4 (WDR4) belongs to the WD repeat family, and is required for the formation of N(7)-methylguanine at position 46 (m7G46) in tRNA. It acts to stablize and induce conformation change of the catalytic subunit in the complex. There exists three isoforms, while isoform1, 2 are 45kDa band, and isoform 3 is 30 kDa band.
