Background Information
ZNF536 (Zinc finger protein 536) is a highly conserved zinc finger protein, acting as DNA-binding transcription suppressor, and negatively regulating neuron differentiation. ZNF536 is most abundant in the brain and, in particular, is expressed in the developing central nervous system and dorsal root ganglia and localized in the cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and hypothalamic area (PMID: 19398580).
