Background Information
Type III collagen is a fibrillar forming collagen comprising three α1(III) chains and is expressed in early embryos and throughout embryogenesis (PMID: 9050868). In the adult, type III collagen is a major component of the extracellular matrix in a variety of internal organs and skin. It occurs in most soft connective tissues along with type I collagen (PMID: 2445760). COL3A1 gene encodes type III procollagen. Mutations in this gene are associated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome types IV, and with aortic and arterial aneurysms (PMID: 10706896; 2243125; 18389341). This antibody was raised against 24-152 aa of prepro α1 (III) chain of human type III procollagen. It can't recognize mouse or rat type III collagen.

Reviews
What customers say
The single review for this product is a 5-star rating from a user who tested it for immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence on human kidney cortex. Using a 1:2000 dilution with citrate buffer antigen retrieval (pressure cooker) and a 1-hour room temperature incubation, the antibody performed well. The user noted that both 1:200 and 1:2000 dilutions gave similar IHC results with a VECTASTAIN Elite ABC-HRP detection kit, and it also worked effectively for immunofluorescence at 1:200. Overall, the reviewer reported reliable staining performance across both applications.
The reviews below have been submitted by verified Proteintech customers who received an incentive for providing their feedback.
Lucia (Verified Customer) (03-11-2025) | Antigen retrieval performed with citrate buffer in pressure cooker. Primary antibody 1h RT, tested 1:200 and 1:2000 and both gave similar results. Detection method Vector VECTASTAIN[R] Elite ABC-HRP Kit. Staining worked with immunofluorescence as well (1:200 1h RT).
