Background Information
P2RY12 is a Gi-coupled receptor containing 342 amino acids and with a molecular weight of 39 kilodaltons. Initially, P2RY12 was identified on platelets and in a lesser quantity in some regions of the brain. However, it is now well established that P2RY12 has a wider cell expression, as it is also expressed on vascular smooth muscle cells, brown adipocytes, cholangiocyte primary cilia, osteoblasts, osteoclasts, and several immune cells including dendritic cells and lymphocytes.
