Background
Semaphorin 5A, is a member of the semaphorin family of proteins, which are known for their roles in axon guidance and the development of the nervous system.Sema5A is a bifunctional guidance cue that can exert both permissive and inhibitory properties toward developing axons and migrating cells. The protein is also implicated in the promotion of angiogenesis by increasing endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and inhibiting apoptosis.
