Background
Cubilin (CUBN) acts as a receptor for intrinsic factor-vitamin B12 complexes. Cubulin is located within the epithelium of intestine and kidney. Mutations in CUBN may play a role in autosomal recessive megaloblastic anemia. Cubilin is an endocytic receptor which plays a role in lipoprotein, vitamin and iron metabolism by facilitating their uptake. Cubilin Acts together with LRP2 to mediate endocytosis of high-density lipoproteins, GC, hemoglobin, ALB, TF and SCGB1A1, which also acts together with AMN to mediate endocytosis of the CBLIF-cobalamin complex.
