Background Information
C12orf43 (also known as CUSTOS) is a nuclear-localized protein. It is predicted to be involved in the formation of the Spemann organizer, a key process in embryonic development, and acts as a negative regulator of the Wnt signaling pathway. Studies have shown that C12orf43 is differentially expressed in various tumors, and its high expression in liver cancer and lung cancer is significantly associated with poor patient prognosis, establishing it as an unfavorable prognostic marker. Additionally, C12orf43 has been found to be associated with neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune disorders, and other conditions.
