Background Information

DDOST (Dolichyl-diphosphooligosaccharide--protein glycosyltransferase 48 kDa subunit), also known as OST48, is an integral membrane protein and a core component of the oligosaccharyltransferase (OST) complex located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It plays a critical role in the transfer of pre-assembled oligosaccharide chains to asparagine residues of nascent polypeptides, a fundamental process known as N-linked protein glycosylation. Beyond its enzymatic function, DDOST contributes to protein folding quality control, endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD), and the unfolded protein response (UPR). Altered expression of DDOST has been implicated in cancer progression, metastasis, and chemoresistance.
