Background Information
DTD1 (D-aminoacyl-tRNA deacylase 1) is a crucial enzyme that ensures the fidelity of protein synthesis by maintaining L-homochirality. It functions as a proofreading factor that hydrolyzes mischarged D-aminoacyl-tRNAs into free D-amino acids and tRNA molecules, preventing the incorporation of D-amino acids into polypeptide chains. DTD1 also plays a significant part in the initiation of DNA replication by facilitating the loading of the CDC45 complex onto pre-replication sites. (PMID: 18700836;27200345)
