Background Information
The dynactin-associated protein (DYNAP), also known as C18orf26, is a transmembrane protein that localises to the Golgi apparatus and the plasma membrane in a microtubule-dependent manner. This protein is expressed in half of all human cancer cell lines. DYNAP expression activates Akt (also known as protein kinase B) by promoting Ser473 phosphorylation, which is required for full activation (PMID: 20978158). In SDS-PAGE, DYNAP migrates anomalously at ~45 kDa, which is much larger than the expected 22.5 kDa based on its amino acid composition. The T/S cluster region is responsible for this (PMID: 35022995).
