Background Information
F8, also named as FVIII, AHF, and F8C, belongs to the multicopper oxidase family. F8, along with calcium and phospholipid, acts as a cofactor for factor IXa when it converts factor X to the activated form, factor Xa. FVIII is translated into a single-chain polypeptide (SCh) with the A1-A2-B-A3-C1-C2 domain, which can undergo glycosylation, sulfonation, and variable cleavage. The resulting FVIII molecule is a heterodimer composed of a heavy chain (HCh, A1-A2-B domain, 90-210 kDa) and a light chain (LCh, A3-C1-C2 domain, 70-80 kDa)(PMID: 28109042; 18650448; 29292164). This antibody can recognize the light chain.
