Background Information
Fanconi anemia group E protein (FANCE) is primarily localized in the nucleoplasm, with additional distribution in mitotic chromosomes and centrosomes. As a key component of the Fanconi anemia (FA) core complex, it plays an essential role in DNA interstrand cross-link repair, serving as a critical bridge between the FA complex and FANCD2 protein (PMID: 12239156; 12093742; 17308347). Cells with FANCE defects exhibit hypersensitivity to DNA cross-linking agents, chromosomal instability, and impaired DNA repair capacity (PMID: 21948210; 28239445; 37563658).
