Background Information

FAT4 is a large transmembrane protein with a mass of approximately 530 kDa. It belongs to the cadherin superfamily and contains multiple cadherin repeats EGF-like domains and one laminin G-like domain. FAT4 is expressed widely across tissues with higher expression observed in the kidney liver and cardiovascular system indicating its involvement in diverse physiological processes. This protein plays a role in maintaining cell adhesion and communication.
