Background
PRDM1 belongs to the PR/SET structural domain protein family and is a DNA-binding transcriptional repressor. PRDM1 has histone deacetylase binding activity and specifically binds promoter chromatin. PRDM1 acts as a deterrent to beta-interferon gene expression and binds specifically to the PRDI element in the promoter of the beta-interferon gene.
