Background
PRRG1, or proline-rich and Gla domain 1, is a protein-coding gene in humans. It encodes a vitamin K-dependent, gamma-carboxyglutamic acid (Gla)-containing, single-pass transmembrane protein. This protein features a Gla domain at the N-terminus, which is essential for the post-translational gamma-carboxylation of specific glutamic acid residues by a vitamin K-dependent gamma-carboxylase. The C-terminus of the protein is proline-rich and contains PPXY and PXXP motifs, which are found in various signaling and cytoskeletal proteins.
