Background
ULBP3 (UL16 binding protein-3), a class 1 major histocompatibility complex-like (MHC-like) molecule and member of the family of ligands of the killer cell lectin-like receptor subfamily K member 1 (NKG2D). This protein plays a crucial role in the immune response against tumors, as it can stimulate antitumor responses and recruit NK cells, NK1.1+ T cells, and T cells to tumor. ULBP3 is expressed by a variety of leukemias, carcinomas, melanomas, and other tumor cell lines, and its expression has been correlated with improved survival in cancer patients.
