Background Information

Methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase 2 (MTHFD2) is a folate-coupled mitochondrial metabolic enzyme characterized by methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase and cyclohydrolase activity. It was demonstrated that suppression of MTHFD2 inhibits methylation reactions, decreases protein synthesis and disrupts redox homeostasis, which may ultimately result in significant changes in cellular metabolic phenotype. MTHFD2 is reported to be up‐regulated in various tumours, such as lung adenocarcinoma(PMID: 34121323) and breast cancer(PMID: 34007312).

I referred to the following publication when looking for an MTHFD2 antibody used for WB. Cancer Cell . 2012 Jul 10;22(1):66-79. The data in the paper is very convincing to me, so I ordered the antibody and tested it myself in mouse hepatomas. The antibody worked great without any background.

It was a sample gift antibody. It has a band at corresponding kDa but there are also unspesific bands just bellow 30 kDa.
