Background
Intercellular adhesion molecule 2 (ICAM2) is also named CD102. ICAM2 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein containing two immunoglobulin-like domains, which are crucial to lymphocyte recirculation and mediate cell survival signals via pathways associated with LFA-1. ICAM2 has been reported to be a mediator for a survival signal sufficient to block apoptosis by activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway.
