Background
CD100 (also known as SEMA4D), a 150 kDa homodimer, belongs to the family of immune semaphorins. CD100 is a protein from the semaphorin family with important roles in the vascular, nervous and immune systems. It may be found as a membrane bound dimer or as a soluble molecule originated by proteolytic cleavage. CD100 is expressed by most cells of the hematopoietic system, including lymphoid cells such as B and T lymphocytes and natural killer cells, as well as myeloid cells (neutrophils, platelets, and monocytes) and endothelial cells, and its expression usually increases upon activation).
