Background Information

NFAT5 (Nuclear factor of activated T-cells 5) is the member of the Rel family of transcription factors, including NF-κB and NFAT1-4, which plays central roles in inducible gene expression during the immune response (PMID: 21629436). NFAT5 also acts as a novel regulator of mammalian anti-pathogen responses, regulating TLR-induced gene expression in primary macrophages induced by Toll-like receptors (PMID: 22312110). NFAT5 is involved in the transcriptional regulation of osmoprotective and inflammatory genes (PMID: 10377394).
