Background Information
PPP1R16B (Protein Phosphatase 1 Regulatory Subunit 16B), also known as TIMAP or ANKRD4, is a membrane-associated protein that acts as a regulator of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1). It contains five ankyrin repeats, a PP1-interacting domain, and a C-terminal CAAX box domain. The synthesis of PPP1R16B is inhibited by transforming growth factor-beta-1 (TGF-β-1), and it is predominantly expressed in endothelial cells. It has 2 isoforms with the molecular mass of 59 and 64 kDa.
